Membership Categories

Ordinary Member

• Opened to Malaysian citizens age 21 and above
• Are medical practitioners (conventional or otherwise), certified music therapists, or any other allied health professionals who use music as an adjunct treatment modality in their practice.
• Also for researchers and professionals in the music/education industry who see the benefit of music in clinical settings and are keen at developing the potential of music in healing.

Student member

• Opened to students age 18 and above
• Currently undergoing a recognised training course in music therapy, music education or in the medical/allied health field
• Student members have no voting rights and cannot hold any office.

Associate member

• Opened to non-Malaysian citizens age 21 and above,
• Have valid work permit in the recognised professional practice of medicine (conventional or otherwise), allied-health, music education/industry or research.
• Associate members have no voting rights and cannot hold any office.

Affiliate member:

• Opened to members of the public aged 21 and above
• Of good character and are interested in promoting the interests and aims of the Society.
• They are not entitled to vote on any decisions affecting the Society.

Lifetime member

• Any ordinary member who pays a one-off life-time membership fee
